SKILLS NEEDED IN THE WORKFORCE

Aerospace

Aerospace was identified by the Engineering Working Group in its Engineering Skills Shortages Report as a particular area of the industry that required further investigation. An Aerospace Action Plan was developed in early March 2002 with strategies aimed at enhancing the industry profile, building a training culture, expanding pathways, and improving recruitment outcomes.

An important aspect of the strategy to enhance the industry and attract job seekers is the development of Aerospace industry specific careers materials. As part of the ZOOM 2 project, a careers CD-ROM has been produced, featuring case-studies of selected occupations. An Aerospace industry careers website has also been developed.
